Best Splint for My Dog!

I was so glad to find this splint for my dog! Balto is the ONLY company that makes something like this. My 12 year old Border Collie went through hell during a failed surgery to fix a fracture. His lower leg is now compromised due to an infection after the surgery and no can guarantee that it can be fixed again. I didn't want him to suffer any more, so I started looking for braces/splints. After trying many, many options, I came upon the Balto Splint. It's the best thing I have found for him. Thank you for creating this.

Seems to help

My pup has been using it with a booty Dora couple of weeks now during the day. Mostly he avoids walking on it when he has it on he does use his paw as his booty gets dirty. When I take it off he limps much less now but on my vet’s advice I will continue to use it.

Brace helped quite a bit

I purchased a Balto Carpal splint for my dog after she strained the tendons in her front paw. The vet suggested this splint to help protect her tendons and reduce the chance of a possible tear and costly surgery down the line. After a couple of days of wearing it inside to get used to it we tested it out in the woods. While she still had to be leashed it definitely made a big difference! There was noticeably less limping and discomfort after walks wearing the splint. The only thing that I didn't like was the sizing. After measuring her she seemed to be between sizes and the site suggested ordering smaller if in between. This caused the splint to be almost too small to fit her. I was able to make it work but it did seem to rub on her paw (especially since she still has her dew claws) if she wore it and was being active. So it did help with the limping and protected her tendon, but she ended up with raw spots on her dew claw due to the small size.

Tripod with carpal laxity

Very easy to put on and well tolerated quickly. My non-vet husband could figure it out. Unfortunately, it keeps twisting on my dog’s leg so the metal support ends up too medially and uncomfortable for my dog. This then provides no support where it is needed. I had such high hopes to provide carpal support for my tripod that is showing carpal laxity from the increased weight carried on her remaining forelimb. If it didn’t twist, it would be great.

Balto® USA

Hey Katelyn, thank you for leaving a review with us. We appreciate the feedback. The twisting of the brace could be because it fits too big. The correct size should be snug and apply compression.
